Rich Hincapie has always been involved in the local cycling scene, as directing races has been a way for him to give back to the community. The Hincapie Spring Series dates back more than 20 years (before Hincapie Sportswear was even founded), and allows cyclists to get in some early training before the formal cycling season begins. Occurring the first three weekends in February, the events consist of a series of road races, time trials, and criteriums.
The top 10 cyclists in each race are awarded series overall points, and these points determine overall winners in each category. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three riders in each category, and the top winner in each category receives an overall omnium winner jersey during the podium presentation.
